Arctic Sport FishingThe Arctic Sea Mountain camp is an ideal location for Arctic sport fishing.Spring, summer and autumn are ideal seasons for those wanting to get a boat and go sea fishing up here. Our modern and well-equipped cabins are situated at the seashore with our private quay and boat harbour. After the fishing trip, we have private facilities for cleaning and preparation of your catch. In addition, we have facilities for cooking, with our hosts as teachers/helpers, in order to prepare great meals for you and your friends in the evening. The fishing grounds around our camp are very varied regarding depth, weather conditions and selection of species. In addition to fishing grounds close to our location (100 m. out...), there are several very good fishing grounds within 1 hour reach with our rental boats. Weather permitting, you can also travel out in the open sea (Nearest neighbours are Greenland and Spitzbergen..) The conditions out there are rougher with regards to wave height, wind, and weather in general. Wave height can, even on good days, be 1-2 meters. This is heavy seas, and the waves are long and swaying. During worse conditions, waves may climb to 10 meters or more. If so is the case, we'll take alternate actions ;-) The Golf Stream supplies a fairly stable sea water temperature year round. This means that you won't find it very comfortable to take a swim, but the fish love it. Sea temperature varies between 3-15 C, making the sea ice-free around the year, except from closed fjords in the midst of the winter. The most usual species caught here are (Max. weight in paranthesis): Cod (40-60 kg.), wolffish (17 kg.), Halibut (350 kg.), and of course salmon (+30 kg.) and trout (+15 kg.)
